Stephanie De Smedt

A Freelance Fullstack Web Designer currently living in Bergen, Norway.

Originally from London I moved to Norway 5 years ago for a Project Management job and fell in love with the mountains and outdoor opportunities - maybe not so much with the weather!

Over the past couple of years I have been studying Web Development alongside my role in Project Management and have been applying the skills that I learned to a number of projects. I focus on creating cleanly designed end products that are intuitive and user-friendly.

  • Mechanical Engineering (Masters - MEng)

    University of Bath

    2007 - 2012

    I studied Mechanical Engineering for 5years at University. Focusing on Control Systems and Materials. I worked in various internships and during an internship with General Electric used Excel VBA to automate their data collection metrics. For my final year thesis I used Matlab to model the energy output of piezoelectrics when mounted to various composite laminates.

  • Offshore Field Engineer

    2012 - 2016

    Working on oil and gas rigs predominantly offshore in the U.K., Netherlands and Norway. Acted as the wellsite supervisor, which involved being the main point of contact between the rig and land during our operations and managing the crew offshore.

    Oversaw the deployment of SAP as the new ERP for Schlumberger within Scandinavia. Responsible for identifying design gaps, delivering training content and change management. Main point of contact for over 400 stakeholders during post deployment support. Empowered end users to adopt to new systems quickly which led to a shorter than anticipated stabilization time

    Workforce Manager for the Reservoir Performance Division in Scandinavia which contained over 500 employees. Focused on mid to long term personnel planning and the training of existing personnel. Helped develop a cross-training program to increase job stability and better reactivity to market changes for the company.
